So I did a thing today…

I presented my mobile app design. (sighs) 10 weeks of research, usability testing and interviews, iterations and more iterations.

Oh wait — let’s first get into my decision making in year 2020!

So during the pandemic my husband and I welcomed our 3rd daughter into this world. (yes, I gave birth with a mask on). This year has been a blessing and a curse to many. Many people I know (myself included) self-reflected on their lives. My career goals is to find a position on an awesome design team. I looked at my skillset and decided to DesignerUp! I know I have all visual design skills from doing graphics 3+ years, but not UX. While I was on maternity leave easier this year Ive decided to enroll with Springboard UI/UX Design Career Track Program —an intensive 9 month to receive a certification.

Fast-Forward play — I’m 19 weeks in :)

So, I’m halfway through this course. So far so good. As you already read I completed a mobile design application. I designed it in sketch and created a prototype in Invision. The feedback I received from the users and my mentor were amazing. Even if I didn't receive good feedback , it’s natural for me to go back to the drawing board for modifications, no biggie. However Im extremely motivated to complete this Springboard course by December 2020 to set myself up for success in 2021. (I’m claiming 2021)

I’ve been following Mike Locke since 2017. Year 2020 has pushed me to stop only following and finally engage. In 2019, I completed his UX course ML Academy. He now offers mentorship. Which on my list of to-dos. I love learning from the vets. His theory is that UI/UX is all common sense, and it is in my opinion… don’t you agree? I noticed since the pandemic theres countless killer content on youtube right now regarding tutorials, right. I’ve been going hard, grinding every night with Webflow and there’s literally a tutorial for every feature I’ve needed so far. Super excited! I love learning new tech in my free time, that’s why I feel like this industry is perfect for me.

Don’t ask me if I’m self-taught. Of Course! We all should be, right?

Speaking of being self-taught. If you haven’t already read these books, I suggest you should. Pictured below are my 2020 good reads :) I defiantly motivate myself with a nice to-do list in everything that I do. Whether it’s design related or wife and motherly duties, it’s just the way my brain operates.

Well, thanks for reading — this blog isn't for any claps or snaps just truly for my personal documentary. I plan to look back on this next year this time as a victory!

………………………………………………………Working on my rebranding.
